L'Shana Tova

In the spirit of the Ten Days of Repentance, I will take this opportunity to ask forgiveness from Matthew for occasionally using him as a straw man to make political and basketball related points.

Shana Tova! Although not Jewish, I wandered over to the Western Wall last night. It was uplifting.

One thing you can do with delicate thoughts:

not share them at all.

You're a great kid, and I admire the heck out of you. But you only owe your public so much self-disclosure, and you may owe yourself some privacy. (You remember Tom Nagel, right?)

So--mull them over, and then maybe: don't publish them. They may make you stronger that way in the long run.

Who knows what MY means by "delicate thoughts?" My guess from context (including Allen) is that they might be about being Jewish in America. Or about the holidays, which suddenly doesn't feel an appropriate description for Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur. Holy Days? I may read about them today.

Delicate thoughts are not necessarily private. But they could be, or could be dangerous or damaging, in which case the advice is good.

Jewish New Year This sites seems good.

I wanted to check if it was appropriate or observant to ask forgiveness from neighbour or G-d. It feels a little uncharitable and unfaithful.

Day of Judgement

Forgiveness in Judaism

I apparently was in error above. I ask forgiveness. I looked at both the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur pages in the site above and didn't see anything about asking forgiveness.

Three Mistranslations

teshuvah, tefillah and tzedakah
!= repentance, prayer and charity
= return attachment justice

I ask Matt's forgiveness for the arrogance and condescension I have displayed toward him recently and in the past.
