The Penn is Mightier Than The Card Check

I do recognize that all of the big polling firms do corporate work. But surely someone should ask Hillary Clinton how she feels about her top pollster/strategist running a union-busting division. "Companies cannot be caught unprepared by Organized Labor’s coordinated campaigns whether they are in conjunction with organizing or contract negotiating," says Mark Penn's firm, "That is why we have developed a comprehensive communications approach for clients when they face any type of labor situation." Just what the Democratic Party ordered!

UPDATE: This is, for example, a good thing to discuss at, say, tonight's SEIU candidate's forum.

Matt: It's anecdotes like this, though, that lead me to believe your piece about Hillary's being perceived as a liberal (while in reality she's not) was questionable. She's spent the last seven years burnishing her hawkish/centrist gloss in preparation for a run in 2008, and my sense is it's been fairly successful. Sure, the average voter in rural Oklahoma may not think of Hillary as anything but a commie, but the national media sure don't. And it is they (you included) who set the tone of campaign coverage.

This is absurdly sloppy. Most campaigns won't let you drive the candidate in a foreign built car even ONCE. This is unacceptable.

Jeeper - I think you underestimate the degree to which the right-wing elements of the media have spent 7 years villifying her. The Rush Limbaugh & Fox News brigade was never going to go Democrat, but they've been hearing how horrible she is for years, and they've been repeating it to their less partisan friends & relatives. And they will definitely turn out if Clinton is on the ticket.

Mr. Penn is a corporate man. He very well might have beliefs that are pro union but he can't let that stand in the way of building his company, winning, and making money. He even might want Hillary to win or at least vote for her in the primary. Well the chances of the latter are about zero. He won't be 'home', wherever that is since he probably has two or three, or have time to vote in no stinking primary.

If a campaign doesn't have enough corporate men on board it is doomed. In fact no man, no person, is much of a person unless they are corporate. For sure they won't have much of a net worth. If you want the best and the brighest then you get corporate man. This is just the way it is. It will not change, it will only get stronger.

The clash between the individual citizen and the corporate group man was won by corporate man long ago. The final demostration of that was the famous tobbacco exec testimony about the addictiveness of tobbacco. They all testified under oath that they didn't think it was. They knew they were lying. The congress critters knew they were lying. Their stockholders knew they were lying. The general public knew they were lying. Everyone knew they had to lie to serve the interests of their corporations. That is just the way things are. That's how the world works.

Why would it be surprising? This is the woman who sat on the Board of Directors at Wal-Mart? Her husband signed legislation that gutted American manufacturing.

If you read all these comments, you relize hou lost we realy are when it comes to alternitive feuls. I think there might be some conspiracy from our goverments and there is a lot of con artists in this for money. But one thing is for sure - you can not buy a car that uses water as feul. I think we must start using wind and sun energy to safe money at home and spent it on fuel untill hybrid cars become the norm
