Toronto Loses

I guess playoff experience, veteran savvy, etc. really all do count for something. I still think Toronto's the better team, though obviously losing home court doesn't help the cause very much. The idea of Canadians being mean and booing Vince Carter so viciously is kind of comical. As a Canada-file and opponent of things like whining your way off teams, I'm rooting for the Raptors, who also have the best center court logo in the league.

Canada-file? You do light office work for the neighbors to the north?

Told you all!

Well if Juan only gets five shots you are not even going to win under Canadian rules.

This _has_ to be a joke. Matt intentionally makes spelling mistakes to taunt us.

It's because you don't follow hockey that you don't think Canadians, like that racist Sean Avery, can be mean.

They are pretty mean to the seals too I understand

I usually assume, with playoff caliber teams, at the middle 1st rnd seedings or the later rounds, that each team will win a game on the road. I don't really know if this has a basis in fact or history.

Another way to put this is that it is very tough to beat a team three games in consecutively.

Does yelling Kazaam when Shaq is at the free throw line make me mean?

Dude. For folks who see blog titles in their RSS readers and Tivo the games, please don't include game results in your blog titles. Thank you.

sub for me: Told you all!

Thanks! Dang parents and inlaws coming over to see the grandchild prevented me from seeing the game live (thank God for TiVo).

Raps had a nice comeback in the 4th Q but just didn't have enought to get over the hump. I'm not sure it is veteran savvy as much as that Bosh isn't good enough to take over the game yet. He did have a couple of nice baskets, but the Nets buckled down and Mikki Moore caused him to take a bad shot. Importantly, they don't have a great secondary scorer to go to when Bosh is getting defended well - Parker and Calderon are OK but not to the level of a Richard Jefferson. And TJ Ford didn't even play down the stretch. (Was this a mistake? Calderon was playing well, but still).

Additionally, I think the Raps REALLY miss Garbajosa. He's their garbageman - someone who will dive for loose balls, etc. They had to play Humphries a lot and he is just BAD.

"Additionally, I think the Raps REALLY miss Garbajosa."

Yup.

"I still think Toronto's the better team"

I thought this was the easiest first round series to bet, in the other direction.

I've seen lots of basic english mistakes here, but "canada-file" takes the cake. Apparently Matt got into Harvard the same way GWB got in.

Kidd really is quite the badass. He was Nash before Nash was 100% white.

He makes the Nets a tough out no matter who they are playing, not just the cleary better Raptors.

Matt caught the misspelling bug at the Harvard Independent. That paper infected its writers with typos, grammatical errors, and malapropisms. Basically, Matt has orthographic herpes. I got out relatively unscathed, but only because I typed my columns with finger condoms on.

The Leafs didn't make the play-offs.
