Mexico is a popular tourist location partly due to its diverse offerings. Mexico is a mix of the past with the present and of the educational with the entertaining. Mexico is surrounded by water on two sides, making it a delightful place for water sports. The Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California lie to the west while the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea lie to the east. To the south of Mexico, you will find the countries of Belize and Guatemala. The United States lies to the north of Mexico. Mexico has a varied terrain that includes low coastal plains, high plateaus, rugged mountains, and deserts. Its climate is also variable and ranges from tropical to desert. In fact, the weather in Mexico is typically enjoyable year round with the hotter, more humid months falling between May and September. The inland is typically much colder during the winter months, while the higher elevations are definitely more temperate and dryer. A variety of natural resources can be found in Mexico including copper, silver, gold, zinc, lead, timber, petroleum, and natural gas. The country is open to several natural hazards including hurricanes, volcanic activity, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Home to over a million people, Mexico has a predominantly mestizo or Amerindian-Spanish ethnicity. The remainder is predominantly comprised of Ameridian people. The main language that is spoken there is Spanish with a smattering of Mayan, Nahuatl, and other languages that are indigenous to the area. About the Author
