Traveling by car through Mexico involves modern highways that include toll stops at various locations. Gasoline is sold by the liter at many stations. Bus travel is an inexpensive and convenient way to travel throughout the country. Two types of bus service are available. A first class bus is slightly more expensive, but will provide the comfort of air conditioning. A second-class bus is very basic and offers only a ride to your destination.
Trains are typically more enjoyable and less dusty than a bus ride. However, they are also more expensive. Again, the service is available with first class accommodations and second-class accommodations. The first class train is obviously much more pleasant and comfortable, but it is also more expensive.
Pullman compartments are included on the first class trains that are designated for overnight travel. Sleeping compartments are available as singles or doubles.
